Saturday Town is the award winning pop up portrait studio of international photographer Casey Orr. In 2023, all fashionable folks in Leeds are invited to show off their style and be photographed in this celebratory photographic project about Northern fashion and identity.
The project explores the self-expression of young people on Saturday afternoons on the high streets and public spaces of England. It is about the powerful, playful language of fashion and how our changing culture can be read through the ways young folks communicate visually.
Saturday Town is also about the streets themselves and the changes happening through the ways we meet each other, shop, and use public spaces and town centres. Casey has travelled throughout the UK with her pop-up portrait studio photographing young people since 2013. The project began in Leeds and 2023 sees her return to the city with a special 10 year anniversary of this work that includes opportunities for young creatives to take part.
